Valerie Morinville.
Valerie Morinville has a B.A. (major in psychology) and a BSW from the University of Manitoba. She also has a Masters of Social Work degree from Carleton University. She is a registered social worker with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and a member of the Ontario Association of Social Workers. Valerie changed careers in 1999 and has worked as a social worker for the past several years.
Valerie provides couple therapy as well as individual therapy in the areas of depression, anxiety disorders, bereavement and loss, stress management, relaxation, relationship issues - including separation and divorce, and parenting. She is trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, group therapy, crisis intervention, bereavement counseling and emotion-focused therapy for couples.
Valerie provides custody and access assessments and recommendations to Family Court. As well, she has extensive knowledge and experience working with the particular difficulties faced by military members and their families.
Valerie has worked in hospital settings (for both children and adults) helping families deal with chronic illness; in child welfare; and as a therapist for military members. She has developed and facilitated groups for adults and children who have experienced the death of a loved one; adults living with depression; and young adults who have experienced the death of a parent. Valerie is bilingual and services are offered in both English and French.
