Raphaela Fleisher.
Raphaela Fleisher has a BSW and a Masters degree in Social Work from McGill University. She is a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers and the Ontario Association of Social Workers. She has over 22 years of clinical experience as a social worker.
Raphaela's areas of clinical expertise include; relationship issues, depression and trauma, domestic violence, sexual abuse, bereavement/loss, separation/divorce and addictions. Raphaela has received extensive training in the area of stress management, crisis intervention, cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, and bereavement.
Raphaela has been employed in a variety of work settings as a social worker and as a clinical supervisor. She started her career in the emergency department at the Montreal Neurological Hospital. At the Montreal General Hospital she worked in the psychiatric department providing psychosocial assessments, discharge planning and counseling and group intervention to individuals and families.
For over 14 years she was employed in the child protection field in Toronto and Kingston. At the Catholic Children's Aid Society and the Protestant Children's Aid Society, Raphaela provided intake assessment, adoption assessments, and counseled foster parents and children of all ages.
While working for the Kingston-Frontenac Children's Aid Society, Raphaela provided parenting programs and counseling to families and children. She gained extensive experience working closely with mental health services, addiction services and Family Court services.
In 1997 she worked as a school social worker in both elementary and high schools. She conducted groups for children and youth in the areas of social skills, separation /divorce, and childhood traumas (sexual and emotional abuse). Raphaela provided individual counseling to children and their families. She also consulted with school administrators on professional issues.
In 1999, Raphaela moved to Ottawa and worked at a family service organization as the manager of a poverty program and as a clinical counselor. She currently provides counseling to individuals (adults, teens, and children), couples, and families.
