Dr. Dan Taylor


Dr. Dan Taylor, C.Psych.

Dr. Taylor received his Honours B.A. in Psychology from the University of Guelph (1997), his M.A. from Lakehead University in Thunder Bay (1999), and his Ph.D. from the University of Windsor (2004). He is registered as a Psychologist in Ontario, and he has been approved by the College of Psychologists of Ontario to work in the areas of Clinical, Rehabilitation, and Health Psychology. His professional affiliations include membership in the Canadian Psychological Association, Ontario Psychological Association and the Ottawa Academy of Psychologists.

Dr. Taylor has had internship and staff experiences in psychiatric inpatient and outpatient hospitals, including the Lakehead Psychiatric Hospital and the Ottawa Hospital-General Campus. He holds an appointment as a Part-Time Professor at the University of Ottawa and has published articles on eating disorders and body-image disturbances in scientific journals. His involvement in conferences, workshops, and reading of current psychological research informs his clinical and academic activities.

Clinical Psychology Services

Dr. Taylor employs an eclectic psychotherapy orientation based upon his training in cognitive-behavioural, existential/humanistic, and psychodynamic approaches. The specific needs and concerns of each client dictate which orientation is selected. He provides individual psychotherapy to adults, and conducts psychological assessments for the insurance (e.g., MVA, disability), medical and legal communities. He has a particular interest in the following clinical areas: chronic pain/illness, posttraumatic stress disorder, depression, anger, disability related issues (e.g., fitness-to-work/return-to-work), stress/burn-out, anxiety/phobias (including driving desensitization), self-esteem and retirement concerns.
